5" and 7.25" Dual Gauge Miniature Railway
Looking for a day out with the family? Visit Coate Water Country Park, Swindon, and ride on the recently extended miniature railway. Current fare is £2.00 per person for a 10 minute ride
Open every Sunday, some Saturdays and most bank holiday weekends (government restrictions, weather and volunteers permitting) from around 11.30am to 4pm (or dusk in the winter) the Coate Water Miniature Railway runs for just under a mile through a lovely wooded setting, with gradients of up to 1:57. During the summer school holidays we open on a Tuesday. Check the timetable page for exact running dates for 2021, and our Facebook and Twitter feeds for the latest news and up to date information.
New Covid-Secure operations are now in place, and we thank you in advance for your patience as inevitably there will be slight delays to boarding your train for your journey. We ask that all over 16s check in either by scanning the track-and-trace QR code on the ticket office or by leaving your name and contact details. We have marked out boxes (edged in yellow) in the queuing line for your party to stand such that social distancing can be maintained. We will only be operating at approximately 50% capacity on each train, with one family or bubble per coach. Loading and unloading will be strictly controlled and coaching stock will be regularly sanitised.
A wheelchair accessible carriage is available upon request.
Please note that steam haulage is subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed, as it is reliant on members bringing their locomotives. Usually the resident class 66 or class 86 battery electric locos will be the motive power.
